NETWORKING EVENT FOR COMPUTING SCIENCE TEACHERS

We recently had our first CSSConnect event in collaboration with CSS, hosted by the amazing Tony Harkins at St. Aloysius College.

Computing Science teachers from over 39 different schools, across 15 different councils came together last week to connect, learn from each other and advance Computing Science! Including teachers from Edinburgh, Inverness and Aberdeen.

Last weeks event was a huge success and all down to the amazing Computing Science teaching community. A big thanks to everyone who attended, out wonderful speakers and off course a big shout out to Tony Harkins and St Aloysius College for hosting the event and to Kieran, Graeme, Paul and all the staff involved! It was a fantastic opportunity to welcome new teachers to the profession and really highlighted what an amazing community of teachers we have.

The event gave a platform for both new and experienced Computing Science teachers to connect, share and learn from each other. The evening featured five engaging workshops, allowing participants to choose the ones that piqued their interest. There was a selection of workshops, including sessions tailored specifically for probationers, as well as topics relevant to all Computing Science teachers. A special thanks to our speakers, Tanya Howden, Greg Reid, Darren Brown and Sara Jenkins.

In addition to the workshops, attendees had the opportunity to engage with initiatives beyond the classroom. We had stalls from representing industry professionals, University and organisations dedicated to promoting Computing Science in schools and inspiring the next generation into the tech sector. These stalls provided a wealth of information and facilitated valuable connections. Thank you to CodeClan, ScotlandIS, dressCode, University of Glasgow and Make it Happen.

If you would like to see a similar networking event with STACS we’d love to help. We are here to help, if you’d like a chat you can email up at support@stacs.scot or DM @stacshq us.
