Bridging the Gap: Primary & Secondary Collaboration at STACS
The transition from Primary to Secondary school is a crucial milestone for pupils, yet opportunities for teachers to collaborate across these phases are often limited. That's why we are incredibly excited about tonight's upskilling session.
It has broken down down barriers and fostered genuine collaboration between experienced Primary and Secondary educators. All STACS Upskilling sessions are far from traditional "chalk and talk" upskilling, it isn't just theory; it's about practical strategies, shared insights, interactive sessions, and pick up and play resources for the wider teaching community that will directly benefit pupils.
It has been great to see the impact of teachers from both phases working together to understand the curriculum, pupil needs, and transition challenges.
Tonights upskilling session is a fantastic opportunity to:
- Enhance understanding: Gain deeper insights into the curriculum and teaching approaches across both phases.
- Share best practice: Learn from experienced colleagues and exchange valuable techniques.
- Improve pupil transitions: Develop strategies to ensure a smoother and more successful journey for our pupils.
All events are hosted on connected.stacs.scot a closed space for Primary and Secondary teachers delivering Computing Science in Scotland. There's a huge wealth of talent, knowledge, and skills in the teaching community. We have so many incredible individuals doing fantastic work around Computing Science, from Early Years to Advanced Higher who are working hard to promote the subject, create excellent opportunities for pupils, and inspire the next generation into Computing Science.
STACS Connected is creating a space for teachers delivering Computing Science to connect, collaborate, share ideas, access support and best practice, and share their knowledge and skills with the community. This will help avoid reinventing the wheel, and give you easy access to a supportive network of peers for advice and collaboration.
Together, we can work towards the shared mission of closing the gender gap, increasing uptake, and inspiring more pupils into Computing Science at school level and consider a career in the the tech sector. The tech sector is vital for Scotland's economy, and that journey starts in the classroom!
A huge shout out to tonight's tutor team Ruth, Maggie, Amanda, Alia, Connor, Ryan and Laura who are nothing short of amazing!
